Department of Aviation

Aviation Department is as old as the State itself. On 1^st November 1956 when the seat of the govt. moved from Nagpur to Bhopal, the aeroplanes belonging to the erstwhile province of CP & Berar came along with.

All through the intervening years we have kept abreast of the developments in the aviation field. Starting from the pre-World War II vintage aircrafts inherited by the state on its formation in 1956 we have come a long way. The Govt. has also very wisely decided to operate only multi engined machines in the future.The main and primary responsiblity of our Department is to cater flying requirements of VVIP/ VIP's of State and Central also to provide air connectivity inter and intra state, Government maintains/ develops the Airstip owned by the State to provide proper infrasturcture and facilicty to the upcomming/ future Pilots/ Aviation Engineers. Government has given some of the airfields on Lease to the Flying Training Institutes and to the Oranisation engaged in Aviaiton Activities. 

Our total flying activity has also increased substantially since these aircraft are capable of operating in all types of weather, both by day and night. Presently Government of Madhya Pradesh has one Helicopter as State Fleet.
